It is with great sadness that we, the family of Mavis K. LeBlanc, announce her peaceful passing on Saturday, March 20, at Seaview Manor in Glace Bay. Born in Montreal, February 21, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Edith (McRae) Croft and Alfred Croft.
Mom lived her early years in Ontario where she met her late husband, Arthur LeBlanc, of East Margaree, and lived 57 years of marriage in Sydney with him. After a long and remarkable life she will be dearly missed by her daughter, Kathleen LeBlanc (Chuck), son Gilbert in Wisconsin; grandchildren, Laura MacKay (Robert), Michelle Butler, Sheila (Scott) O’Brien, Joanna (Leslie) Twees and Wanda (Scott) Embury, and great-grandchildren, Courtney Butler, Madison and Cameron Embury, Ryan and Kyle Muscat, Kevin, Michael and Jenna O’Brien and her beloved Gage Gibson.
She is also survived by her sisters-in-law Agnes MacNeil of Mississauga, Ontario and Rita LeBlanc, of Dartmouth. Mavis was also predeceased by her youngest son, Stanley LeBlanc, in 2019, and was the oldest of 9 siblings all whom predeceased her. Left surviving are numerous nieces and nephews in Ontario.
Mavis was a devoted stay-at-home mother and loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was an excellent seamstress and took great pride in sewing for her family and friends. Mavis was an active member of the Sydney Pensioners Club where she loved to play darts and enjoyed bowling. She had a zest for life and lived life to the fullest, travelling to Florida to be with family and many camping trips with Dad on Cape Breton Island.
A visitation will be held on March 24, 2021 from 2 -4 pm at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, with Covid 19 protocols in place. Donations may be made in her name to the MS Society. To leave memories and condolences for her family please visit www.twcurry.com
