

It is with profound sadness that we, the family of George Maxwell ‘Max’ Royal, announce his passing on September 22, 2019, with family by his side, in the palliative care unit of the Cape Breton Regional Hospital.
Born in Florence July 26th, 1942, he was a son of the late John and Ella (Reid) Royal.
Max worked for Ells & Sawlor, Marquis / Irving Oil Construction. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126 Westmount and a volunteer fire fighter in Westmount for over 40 years. Max was an avid hunter, a practical joker, and loved to fish and play cards. He spent many hours in his workshop tying flies and building things. More than anything Max loved spending time with his children, grandchildren, friends and his beloved wife.
Max is survived by his loving wife Beatrice, daughters: Wanda (Sandy) and Maxine; son Roddie (Laura Lee) stepsons: Pat (Dawn); Spencer (Catherine), Winston (Audrey) and Gary (Sherry). Max was loved dearly by his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He is also survived by his brothers, Freddy (Gloria), New Minas; Gilbert (Cathy), Howie Center; Dennis (Jackie), Petawawa; Wayne (Cathy), Canning; sister, Evelyn (Dennis), Balls Creek; sisters in-law Blanche and Ruby.
Besides his parents Max was predeceased by his brother, Jack (Ruby) and sisters Isabelle (Howard) and Debbie and her husband, Angus.
Special thanks the Nurses and staff of 4a and the palliative unit at the cape Breton regional hospital for their kindness and compassion during his illness.
A private family service will be held at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel.
