We are broken hearted to announce the passing of our husband, father, grandfather, and brother, Michael Leonard Pruski on Wednesday April 27 at the An Cala unit at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mike was a family man and liked nothing better than to spend time with his boys and the girls. His first love was his family. His second love was hunting and fishing. He spent many happy hours up on the mountain, waiting for the elusive white tail. He was proficient in gun smithing and reloading ammunition. He loved to work and improve our outside space, the yard always looking pristine.
He was a jack of all trades. He earned certificates in Small Gas Engine repair and Auto Body repair at the Cape Breton Regional Vocational School. He held a Welding Certificate and loved to fabricate things out of left-over metal. He worked in the Concrete field for a number of years and his last job he held before retirement was as a heavy equipment operator with KELLY Rock. He was an amazing operator and the ability to work the machine like a third hand.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Beatrice (LeLievre). He is survived by his childhood sweetheart and wife of 46 years Dena (MacPhee), his children, Krista (Ted Pace), Ray (Amanda Spracklin), Shawn (Erin McNeil), and Allison (Patrick Byrne). He is also survived by his twelve grandchildren, Bailey, Alex, Bryson, Camryn, Morgan, Peyton, Nathan, Paige, Sean, Ryan, Kali, and Lili. He is also survived by his “brothers” from another mother, Rod, Danny, Duncan, Ross, Greg, Steve, and Clem, and his “sister” Marie McDougall.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Hospice Palliative Care Society would be appreciated.
A huge thank you to the Dr. Ron MacCormick and the Staff of the Cancer Centre for their care and compassion during his short time spent there. Another thank you to the staff of the ER, 3B, 4A and 4B for the care they gave Mike during his stays over the past several months. Another thank you to the EHS for there services, And finally a huge thank you to our family physician, Dr. Paul Murphy for 43 years of care and compassionate service.
To our extended family and our network of friends and Colleagues your support and kindness will never be forgotten.
