Nancy Joy Ricker

It is with great sadness that the family of Nancy Joy Ricker announce the sudden passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend on Tuesday, August 5, 2025, at the age of 65, at her home in Wagmatcook, Nova Scotia.

Born on September 27, 1960 in Waterville, Maine, USA, Nancy lived a life filled with love, laughter and compassion.

Nancy will be lovingly remembered by her former spouse, Larry Ricker of Maine, and their two daughters Serena Marie Ricker and Ericia Lee Ricker. She was the cherished grandmother of Keanu Huckaby, Zymere Weathers and Kiara Bernaradl. She is survived by her loving sisters Lena Collette, Vickie Price, Merry Francis, Madeline Francis, Dianne Francis and Theresa Francis as well as her devoted brothers Henry Francis, James Francis and Frank Francis. She is also survived by her beloved godchild Christopher Collette, who held a special place in her heart. Nancy will be deeply missed by her dear friends Veronica Jeddore and Lucy Smith of Wagmatcook, NS. Her bond with her brother Henry was unshakable, two peas in a pod, sharing countless meals, laughter and stories. She was a keen baker, previously employed by Clean Wave restaurant.

She was predeceased by her parents Henry & Georgietta Francis, sister Linda Francis, and little brother/nephew Chad Francis.

Nancy devoted many years working in a "no kill" shelter in Maine, where her compassion for animals shone brightly. She firmly believed that every animal deserved the chance to live and be loved. Her middle name "Joy" suited her perfectly and she always remained peaceful.

Her celebration of life will be held at 56 Fishery Road, Wagmatcook, NS, from Wednesday, August 13th through Friday, August 15. Salité will begin on August 16th, 1 p.m. at the Wagmatcook Heritage & Cultural Centre.
