Olive "Ollie" Jean (O'Keefe) MacPhee

She was predeceased by her husband of over 60 years, John Joseph ‘Jos’ MacPhee, who she married on Sept. 10, 1951. She was the daughter of Dr J.J. O’Keefe and Matilda ‘Tilly’ Burgey, one of 5 siblings, with Larry, Helen, Redmond, and Greg O’Keefe.

She is survived by her sons Larry and Paul MacPhee, grandchildren Michael, Julia, Gregory, Carson, and Thomas, and great-grandchildren Jordan and Cameron.

She began her career as an elementary school teacher in Portage and retired, as was the custom, when she got married, but later returned as a substitute teacher in Sydney. She was a long-time member of St. Theresa’s Parish and lived on Cabot St in Sydney.

Visitation will take place from 9:30-10:30 am on Thursday , April 7th at TW Curry Parkview Chapel, Sydney. A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00am on Thursday at St. Theresa’s Church, 381 Whitney Ave., Sydney with Fr. Dennis Lamey officiating. Interment to follow in Resurrection Cemetery.
