It is with aching hearts that we announce the peaceful but unexpected passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend Rachel Matilda Campbell who passed on October 14, 2021 in Sydney. Rachel was born in Sydney on February 18, 1944 to the late Frederick and Margaret (Williams) Whyet.
Rachel was born & raised in Whitney Pier before marrying Patrick Campbell. Their military career took them all over the world. Upon retirement, they moved back home to Whitney Pier. She was a generous person with a kind heart, always willing to lend a helping hand and often helping out with home care or babysitting for those who needed it. She was also a proud member of the African/Canadian community in Whitney Pier.
Besides her parents, Rachel was predeceased by her husband Patrick, grandson Klaas Campbell-Veen, brother Allan Crichlow and sister Rebeccah Whyet. She is survived and will be deeply missed by her daughters Margaret and Audrey, grandchildren James and Patricia, great grandson Damien as well as one brother Bazil Williams, sister-in-laws Cleo Crichlow and Lillet Tasco, dear friend Diane Alleyne, and many nieces and nephews.
A service will be held on July 14, 2022 at TW Curry Parkview Chapel at 11 am with Michael Morrison officiating. A burial will follow service at Forest Haven Memorial Gardens with a Reception at Menelik Hall in Whitney Pier.
