With deep sadness, the family of the Robert Rose (72), of Howie Centre, announce his peaceful passing at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital on Wednesday, June 23, 2010. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Joshua and Janet (Blagdon) Rose. Robert was retired from the Canadian Armed Forces 1st Royal Canadian Regiment. He was a member of the Canadian Association of Veterans in United Nations Peacekeeping and a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126 Westmount. Robert is survived by his loving wife Patricia Rose; son David (Donna); daughter Wendy (Chad); step son Chris (Tracy); step daughter Donna; sisters Lillian and Irene; numerous nephews, nieces and grandchildren. He was predeceased by brothers Tom, Vincent, Murray, George, John and Gerald; sisters Audrey, Marie and Pearl. Bob enjoyed a life of boating, camping, gardening, woodworking and model building and will be greatly missed by his many loved ones. Visitation for Bob will be held Friday from 7-9 pm at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, 755 George Street, Sydney and from where a memorial service will be held Saturday at 11am. A reception and lunch will follow at Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 126 Westmount. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Canadian Lung Association, Nova Scotia Branch or to a charity of choice.
