It is with heavy hearts that we, her family, announce the peaceful passing of our beloved sister, aunt, sister-in-law and friend, Rose, on Friday, August 15, 2014 at the Cape Breton Regional Hospital, after a brief illness.
Rose was born in Lower L’Ardoise. She was the daughter of the late Barnaby and Margaret (Peters) Sampson.
She worked for many years as a CAN and retired from St. Rita Hospital in Sydney.
Rose is survived by her sisters Kay Pottie, Mississauga, Ont.; Sarah Pyke, Anne Marie (John) Desveaux, Mary (Dave) Campbell, Doris (Ralph) Allen; Marie Mombourquette; Janet (Kevin) MacDonald, all of Sydney and her beloved brother Nap (Shirley) Sampson, D’Escousse. She is also survived by her special godchildren John MacLean, Sydney, Doreen Palmer, Mississauga, Ont., Doris Allen, Tammy Sturge, Roy Sampson, Danny Mombourquette, Blaise MacLean, all of Sydney; Eddie MacLean, Halifax; sister-in-law Margie MacLellan, Big Pond, brother-in-law Larry MacLean, Ontario and many nieces and nephews who she loved dearly; special nephew Melvin Sampson; special friends Sharon Johnson and Ursula Aucoin, along with a wide circle of friends and co-workers.
She was predeceased by her husband Roy MacLean (2003), sisters Evelyn Bonaparte, Laura Pottie, brother Martin Sampson, two brothers in infancy and her precious dog Missy.
Visitation for Rose will be held at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel from 2-4 & 7-9 pm on Sunday, August 17, 2014. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Marguerite Bourgeois Parish (former St. Joseph’s Church, 40 Cabot St. Sydney) on Monday, August 18, 2014 at 2 pm with Father Bill Burke officiating. Burial to follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks. Reception at St. Anthony Daniel Hall, Alexandra Street, Sydney.

The family would like to thank Dr. Glen Worth, Dr. Anne Frances D’Intino, the palliative care doctors and nurses and the nursing staff of 4B and 4C, for the wonderful care she received.
