Ruth was an amazing woman. Whatever role Ruth  took on, she excelled. As a banker she was professional, knowledgeable and caring. As a wife she was devoted and loving.  Her favourite role was that as a mother to her two sons, Barry and Brian. The love she had for her boys was unmeasurable. She was so proud of them and supported them thru out their lives. Ruth loved the wives her sons chose, Terry and Kate, they were the daughters she never had. They made her sons happy and like every mother that was her dream. She just glowed telling stories of her grandsons and granddaughter.  As for Marty and Ruth everyone that knew them  were aware of their love story.  Talking to them you could see it in their eyes.so much admiration and respect for each other. Still holding hands in their 90’s. If there are casinos in Heaven I am sure they will have some date nights there. Ruth was even great at living as she made it to 100.  I am so proud to consider Ruth my forever friend. I loved her too ❤️  My sincere condolences to all the Delaney family. Marty and Ruth have left a wonderful legacy.

I am saddened to learn of the passing of your mother.  We lived in a wonderful neighborhood and I always remember and often commented on the kindness and easy manner of your parents.  Marty and Ruth were very nice to me and I never forgot their kindness and their interest in watching us as we played ball or soccer in the nearby fields. Please accept my deepest condolences.

Dear Barry and  Brian,

My recollection of Aunt Ruth is that, like your Dad, she was always a happy and very positive person. My earliest memory of her is of leaving with Barry from your family home on Cabot St in early September of 1960 to walk to our first day of 'grade primary' at the old St. Joseph School, located on Cottage Road. It was a hike for two five year olds but she made sure that my focus on that first day was to make sure  that Barry (who on that day I recall was slightly more nervous than me) made it to school and back home safely! We both survived - and were treated to cookies upon our triumphant  return.
My understanding is that Aunt Ruth had both your backs on more than just that occasion! Nice!

I recall stories from my own Mother forever about the loving care your Mom received especially since your Father's passing when she moved to Dartmouth, and the shopping stories and the great times spent together.

Sending so many loving prayers and thoughts to Barry and Brian at this time. I could not have asked for more loving and caring godparents. Although I have been gone for many years we kept in touch and I would be sure to see them when I was home. I will never forget how Mary and Ruth would visit with my mom Rita her last years whether in the hospital or nursing home and spend so much time sitting with her.
