It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Shanara Eden Denny, 27 of Eskasoni. Born in Sydney, she was a daughter of Darlene and Foster Denny.
Shanara is survived by sisters, Suntishia and Mihelle; brothers, Todd, Bitty and family, Warren, Leland and Tyler; godparents, Alice and Jim Poulette; many aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
She was predeceased by sisters,Tanishia and Enia; cousin, Terrilynne; grandparents, Daisy and Roland Denny.
Shanara loved the outdoors and was an adventurous person. She had adventures that lead her to many places in North America. She loved her mi’kmaq culture, especially loved attending sweats. She was also an activist for treaty rights, murdered and indigenous woman and pride, Shanara was proud to be gay. She enjoyed writing poems and expressing her artistic ability through drawing, painting and tattooing.
Visitation will begin 7 p.m. on Sunday, August 11 at 14 Eagleview Drive, Eskasoni until the time of the service at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13 at Holy Family Church, Fr. Antolin Asor Officiating. Burial in parish cemetery. Salite following the burial at the Gabriel Centre.
