Following a 7 year battle with cancer, Sharon Ann Lafford (nee Bernard) of Eskasoni, at the age of 58 years began her journey into the spirit world from home surrounded by her family on November 2nd, 2019. She was born on November 6, 1960 at St. Martha’s hospital in Antigonish.
Sharon will be remembered for her infectious laugh, bright eyed smile and great cooking. She was a foster parent for over 25 years with over 30 kids being welcomed into their home. She was employed as a Fisher woman (since 91) Fisher and Oyster Farmer, Teacher’s Aid, Eskasoni School board member, Tractor trailer driver, Actress in Disney’s movie “Squanto”, in-home baker, and professional gambler.
She was predeceased by both her parents, Caroline Bernard (nee Isadore) and Walter Bernard from Afton. Her brothers; Henry Googoo and Donald Googoo both from Waycobah.
Sharon is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, John Henry Lafford and their daughters; Tashia Lafford (Jared), Membertou, Tammy Lafford (Lowell) Eskasoni, Helen Lafford (Brandon) Tobique, Annie Marie Googoo, Eskasoni and son, Simon RJ Denny. Also by stepchildren; Trudy Paul, Eskasoni and Melody Paul, Maine, grandchildren, Treven, Quincy, Baby John, Carmelina, Lyric, Lyra, Step-grandchildren, Leia, Sheneyah, Alexis, Kadin, Christopher, Julie, Jacen and Jaina, God-children, Edward ‘Bun-bun’ Googoo and Anderson Johnson, siblings, Barbara Googoo, Betty Googoo, Shelia Watson, Eunice Bernard, Nancy Bernard, Wayne Sylliboy and Danny Paul, best friends, Ron O’Shea, Cathy Wallis, Lea Paul and Muriel Knockwood, who was like a sister to her. Also by countless nieces, nephews, cousins, double up buddies, PEI bingo buddies, card playing buddies and sundance brother and sisters.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday Nov 5, 2019 at 140 Castle Bay Rd. Eskasoni after 7pm. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday Nov 7, 2019 at Holy Family Parish, Eskasoni at 10:30am with Fr. Asor presiding. Salite to follow service. To leave online condolences, please visit www.twcurry.com.
