

The CND sisters of Notre Dame Parkland, Sydney, wish to announce that Sister Mary Elizabeth MacDonald (Sister St. Ann of the Immaculate) passed on to eternal Light on April 12, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late John F. (Philip) MacDonald and Annie Jane (Cash) MacDonald of Irish Vale.
She entered the Congregation of Notre Dame in 1955 and was professed in 1957. During her 56 years as a religious, she served the people of God in the fields of education, pastoral ministry and alternative healing methodology. With commitment, enthusiasm and compassion, she carried out these ministries in Sydney, Truro, Pictou, Mabou, Halifax, Toronto and Sydney Mines. At the time of her passing, she was Health and Wellness Coordinator for the sisters of the Congregation in Visitation Province.
Mary Elizabeth will be remembered for her pride in her Celtic heritage, her deep faith and trust in God exemplified in her love and care for others and for her great respect for the environment.
She was predeceased by her only sibling, her brother, Billy and her niece, Shannon.
She is survived by two nephews, Scott and Jeff and her sister-in-law, Judy.
Her body is resting at T.W. Curry Parkview Chapel, George Street, Sydney. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 16, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. with a Bible Vigil at 7:30 p.m. A celebration of Sister Mary Elizabeth’s life will take place at 11 a.m., Wednesday, April 17 at Sacred Heart Church, Johnstown with Fr.
