91 – Whitney Pier

Stella Hasiuk, 91 of Whitney Pier, passed away at home on Thursday, August 26, 2010.

Born in Sydney, she was the daughter of the late Stephen and Anna (Chesla) Haliberda.

Stella was a long time member of Holy Ghost Ukrainian Church and a member of the Ukrainian Catholic Woman’s League. She had many hobbies and a great love for oil painting. She will be sadly missed by her family and many friends.

She is survived by her sons, Steve (Ellizabeth), Whitney Pier; John (Thora), Truro; Michael (Donna), Westville; sister Mary MacIntyre, Ontario; 8 grandchildren, Lisa Skinner, Stephanie, Stephen, Christopher Hasiuk; Leanne Gallant, Jonathan Hasiuk, Tanya Rogers , Nickolai Hasiuk and their spouses.

Stella was predeceased by her husband Fred, sister Kay Dilney, brother, Morris Haliberda, grandson Derek Hasiuk and great granddaugthers Lauren and Marina in infancy.

Visitation for the late Mrs. Hasiuk will take place at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel on Sunday from 2-4 & 7- 9 p.m. and Monday from 2-4 & 7-9 p.m with the Panakhyda Service taking place at 7 p.m. on Sunday and Monday. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 3 p.m. at Holy Ghost Church with Fr. Roman Dusanowskyj officiating. Interment in Forest Haven Memorial Gardens, Sydney.
