Vito DiPierro

82 – Coxheath

Vito DiPierro, 82 of Coxheath, NS, formerly of Italy, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the Harbourstone Enhanced Care Facility, Sydney.

Born in San Salvo, Province of Chieti, Region of Abruzzo, Italy, son of the late Antonio and Giuseppina DiPierro.

He was a member of the C.B. Italian Cultural Association, Whitney Pier and the Bricklayers Union in Cape Breton. Vito was a stone mason and master bricklayer over most of his lifetime having worked for Sydney Steel in the 1980’s and subsequently Sydney Masonry Ltd in the 1990’s and worked on his own, eventually retiring in 2000.

Vito is survived by his wife, the former Gina DiRito, a daughter Pina (Donald) Fraser, Coxheath; 2 sons Father Evo DiPierro, St. Columba Parish, Antigonish County.; Nicholas DiPierro at home with Mom; a sister Evelina, San Salvo, Italy; 2 grandchildren Genaya Fraser and Christian Fraser and by several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a sister Leda in 2014 in Italy.

Visitation for Mr. DiPierro will take place from 7-9 pm on Thursday, January 22, 2015 at T.W.Curry Parkview Chapel. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 am on Friday at Our Lady of Fatima Church with Rev. Duaine Devereaux officiating. Interment in Resurrection Cemetery, Sydney Forks.
