Goodwater, AL. - Alan Winter Wingfield, age 81, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2024 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.
Alan is survived by his wife of 56 years, Dianne McEwen Wingfield; two sons, Brian Alan Wingfield (Jamie), Mark Winter Wingfield (Jessica Rushing); six grandchildren, Emma Wingfield, Caroline Wingfield, Robert Wingfield, Raya Wingfield, Reese Wingfield and Raegan Rushing.
Alan was preceded in death by his parents John R. & Harriet Wingfield; and two brothers, John Robert (Jack) Wingfield and Charles William (Billy) Wingfield.
A visitation for Alan will be held Thursday, January 11, 2024 from 12:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Goodwater United Methodist Church, 625 So. Main St, Goodwater, AL, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. with Rev. Tommy Thornton officiating.
Alan will be laid to rest in Brownville Cemetery, Goodwater, AL.
Alan was a respected Businessman and served many years as president of Wingfield Engineering Co. Alan was a member of the Goodwater Fire Department for fifty six years where he was fire chief for forty of those years. Alan was cofounder of Goodwater Emergency Medical Services. Alan served his community as Coosa County Coroner for thirty eight years and was an officer of Alabama Coroner's Association. He was a part of Coosa County E911 Board, Lake Martin Amateur Radio Club, Rotary Club, Fraternal Order of Police, and State Trooper Auxiliary. He served as a scout master for Boy Scouts of America. Alan served several offices of the administrative board of Goodwater Methodist Church where he was a life long member.
