Funeral service for Barney Joe Owens, age 73, of Sylacauga will be Friday May 11, 2018 at 1:00 PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. James Long officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday from 6-8PM at the North Chapel.
He was an electrician by trade and retired from Kimberly/Clark, Bowater and was president of his local Electrical Union for 30 years. After retiring, he worked as a security guard for Pursell.
Survivors are his wife: Gloria Horton Owens, children: Stephen Owens (Janice), Alison Todd (Billy), grandchildren: Lauren Owens, Andrew Owens, JT Upchurch, Ashton Upchurch and sister: Glenda Tankersley.
Family will accept flowers or donations to the Christ Closet or Prayer Blanket Ministry at Mignon Baptist Church.
Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel will direct the services.
