This man gave me a second chance in life. Billy looked at a man for what he could be. He always tried to see the good in people. I will always love him and his family .

I only meant Billy once, and that was just recently. I've known his brothers Gary and James a good while now. Billy drove down here to Panama City Beach with James with a full truck load of emergency foods, water, tarps, flashlights, batteries, lanterns etc. for the needy just a couple of days after Hurricane Michael. He literally gave away thousands of dollars of items to all in need. No questions asked, "Please take all you need, don't be shy" he said.
The Hay family is a close-knit family I wish I had. The love they have for one another is phenomenal which only spreads to their friends. I love Gary, Bridget and Adam so much and their friendship means the world to me. The kindness and compassion Billy gave to us meant so much. You can fake a lot of things, but you cannot fake compassion and Billy was a genuine compassionate person whom put others needs ahead of himself. The kindness all the brothers give is extraordinary. Just runs in the Hay family I guess.
By the time Margie and I watched Billy's tribute I felt as if I was part of the family. I thank God I was fortunate enough to have meant Billy.
Gary, Bridget, Adam, James, and family.....Peace and be well.

Billy was a good chief and tried to be helpful to everyone. I grew up,in Sylacauga and talked to him lots. About a year ago I saw him at walmart and didn't have quite enough money to get what I needed and he handed me $5 to get what I needed. RIP Chief Hay. Fly high. 🙏.

My grandmother use to drive really fast during the time Chief Hay was the Chief of Police. Every time she would receive a ticket for speeding she would call on Chief Hay and he would take care of it. He would also tell her that she needed to slow down. He was a friend to many and I’m sure will be greatly missed!!
