Carolyn Lewis Holmes peacefully passed away to her heavenly home on December 1, 2018 at the age of 79 in Sylacauga, Alabama. She was surrounded by her loving family, who never left her side as she patiently waited to gain her wings and join her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She is preceded in death by her husband, William Woodrow Holmes, Sr., who was the love of her life and greatly missed by her every single day. Known by their family as “Mop and Pop”, they were blessed with a long and fulfilling marriage enriched with many wonderful memories and together, they built a beautiful family. She is survived by her daughters – Becky Landers and husband, Burl, Fran Hill and husband, Timothy, and Rachael Owens and husband, Jay, and her son, William Holmes. She is also survived by many grandchildren – Woody Holmes and wife, Kim, Brandy Jones and husband, Jeff, Bridgett Kinney and husband, Jason, Brittany Johnston and husband, Chris, Brooke Yeager and husband, Lance, Jeremy Joiner and wife, Jerri, Justin Joiner and wife, Denise, and Wyatt Holmes, along with many great-grandchildren whom she cherished dearly. She was the eldest of two sisters, Anne and Minnie, and a brother, Charles Ray and had many nieces and nephews who all adored her. Family was of the utmost importance to Carolyn, as she would proudly boast “I have the best family in the whole wide world” anytime she had a chance to do so. Spending time with her children and grandchildren brought her immense joy and she treasured every moment with them. As her family grew and she became a great-grandmother, her life was brightened even more. Love, devotion and loyalty to family were qualities of great importance to her, and she passed those values on to the family she loved so dearly. Though her family was her pride and joy, nothing could compare to the passion she had for Jesus. This devotion was her driving force and radiated through her every day. Affectionately known by many as the “Rose Lady”, Carolyn’s most favorite thing to do was to buy as many roses as she could afford and give them out to others simply so she could brighten their day. To her, the red rose was a symbol of the love of Jesus and was her way to spread that love to others. Carolyn touched the hearts and lives of so many simply with her warm smile, positive attitude, and abundance of hugs. Her life was an astounding testimony of strength, love and perseverance. Visitation will be held at Curtis & Son Funeral Home located at 1099 1st Avenue NW, Childersburg, Alabama 35044 on December 4, 2018 from 5 p.m. A funeral service will be held on December 5, 2018 at 1 p.m. with burial to follow at Fayetteville cemetery. A reception for family and friends will be held afterward at the home of Burl & Becky Landers located at 89 Circle M Ranch Drive, Sylacauga, Alabama 35151.
