Chuck lived a very active and full life graduating from Fairview high School in Dayton in 1961. He took his first job at Dayton Press (Ohio). Unions forced the plant out of business in 1980, so he moved his family south to Birmingham, Alabama. His career took he and Jane from Kingsport, Tennessee to Dubuque, Iowa, then to their dream home alongside Jane's mother's home in Fayetteville, Alabama where they lived until 2021.
Chuck battled and defeated cancer twice however the toll it took on his body made it hard for him to maintain the life he was accustomed to. He struggled through several surgeries to his shoulder, wrist, and hand primarily due to his refusal to give up his work ethic and active lifestyle.
He thoroughly enjoyed his 13 acre country home. he spent most of his retirement gardening, playing with his dogs Trooper, Marley, and Maggie, and working on projects in his wood shop building and refinishing various pieces of furniture for family, friends, and his church.
Having reconciled his time was growing short, he and Jane both agreed to sell their dream home in Fayetteville and move to Alabaster so that Jane would be close to family and cared for after he was gone. He lived in Alabaster with Jane roughly 8 months before his passing.
