Sylacauga, AL. - Donald L. Stockdale, age 89, passed away on Monday, June 16, 2025. Visitation for will be held Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. in Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
Born in Coosa County on November 15, 1935 and raised in Coosa and Russell counties, Don enlisted in the US Army in 1954 and served his country for 20 years. His many diverse assignments took him all over the world including Panama, Germany, Turkey and Vietnam. Following Army retirement, he returned to Coosa County, earned an electronics degree and worked for International Enterprises Incorporated in Talladega for 17 years. After retiring from IEI, Don enjoyed working at his farm, studying genealogy and working with his many computers. He enjoyed family gatherings especially with his grandchildren and Sunday dinners at Pizza and Pint.
Don was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Betty Lois. He is survived by his children, Michael A. Stockdale (Tracy) of Gadsden and Donna S. Wilson (Ray) of Hoover; four grandchildren, Jennifer Rae Sawyer (Morgan) of Hoover, Michael Blaine Wilson (Regan) of Birmingham, Stephen Alexander Wilson of Birmingham and Joshua Tyler Stockdale (Elizabeth) of Jacksonville, Florida; six great grandchildren, Olivia, Evan and Judith Sawyer, Riley and Saylor Wilson and Nora Stockdale.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
