I will always remember how Katie and Donald were so nice and accepting to me. I used to randomly visit them and they always would welcome me in to talk and visit for a while. Both have a special place in my heart. I am so sorry that I did not know about Donald’s passing. If I had known I would have paid my respects to him. He was such a sweet man and will be missed. I am his great granddaughter, Savannah’s Mom. I know that Katie and Donald are in Heaven sitting in their recliners just a chatting and watching over all their loved ones.

Donald Thornton is my papaw. Oh the memories, where do I start? I have so many great memories of him from him teaching me the names of all the birds that would visit in his yard to the the advise as an adult that would get me through tough times. I remember as a little girl, when I would stay with my grandparents, waiting on him to get home from work (which was 3 o'clock, I still remember) to tell him about my day. He was not only a grandpa but a friend. I think that's how kids kind of think of their grandparents as friends...best friends, at least I did. Papaw, I will miss you, but I have so many memories to hold on to. I know you're in a happier place with mamaw and I know I will see you again one day. I love you papaw.

To my Paw Paw . I remember that as a small kid you would scoop me up into your lap every time I walked by you sitting in your recliner . You would tell me about your day at work and I would tell you about my day at school . You always had a dollar or two for me and Matt to get some cheap candy at the corner store . And going to Noble Park to play and listen to you tell us about the trees and all about nature . But most of all you taught me that it's never too late to change your ways . You were living proof of that . I remember the first time that you died on a helicopter ride to the hospital . You came back better than before in every way , physically , mentally , and spiritually and lived for another thirty years . I know that you had nothing but love in your heart and now you and maw maw can rest in peace . Now I'm going to go have me a bowl of cornbread and milk and watch a couple of episodes of hee haw and try to imagine you are here . I love you Paw Paw . I will never forget you and Maw Maw . I hope to see you again some day Paw Paw , I love you Goodbye for now .

Man O Man the wheelbarrow rides I got as a young kid from my great grandpa Donald (I was a heavy kid). Paw Paw was a huge part of my early childhood. He loved his flowers and always kept his yard very nice. As an adult when going to his house he shared stories of him as a young man and they were very funny. I'm glad I got to hear the stories and spend time with him. I'm really going to miss our talks together. I am Brenda Talton and Sam Talton's grandson and Jennifer Smith and Brian Smith's son. Love you Paw Paw

Donald Thornton was my grandfather. I am the daughter of Brenda and Sam Talton. He was a very loving grandfather to me and my three sibling: Chris, Stacie, Jennifer and Andy. As a child I always loved sleeping over at my grandparents house. My pawpaw always loved talking to all his grandkids and would always tell us about his job at flav o rich. He loved us and all of our children. I am so happy you were able to see Brandon before you died and he let you know about his son, Carter since we all live out of state. We will miss you but are happy you are with mawmaw now and all your family.
