

Donald Gene WilliamsonAlpine, AL – Donald Gene Williamson of Alpine, AL passed away with his family by his side on January 2 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Williamson, and mother, Margaret Louise Williamson. He is survived by his loving wife of 44 years, Connie Jane Brown Williamson and his daughter, Jill Michele Williamson (Chris Patterson) and grandson, Alton Patterson. He is also survived by sisters Margaret McClure (Blois) and Betty Beasley (deceased husband Roger Beasley); and brothers Raymond Williamson (Pat); Ronnie Williamson (Donna); and Keith Williamson (Linda) as well as many nieces and nephews.Born in Sylacauga, AL he attended Winterboro High School and Nunnelley State Technical College and left to serve his country bravely and proudly in Vietnam in December 1969 and was recognized for his valor. Afterward, he made a career at Kimberly-Clark retiring in 2004. He was a gentle spirit, great practical joker and a man of tremendous strength and upstanding character throughout his life. He was a loving partner, father, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed. The family would like to thank Dr. Khaleel Ashraf and the staff at Hematology & Oncology Associates, Alacare Home Health and Lisa Williamson Cooper and the staff of Coosa Valley Hospice for their caring and support. Memorials in his name are welcomed by the American Cancer Society, and the family will also accept flowers. Visitation will be held on Monday, January 4 from 5 until 8 PM at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January, 5, at 2 PM at Radney-Smith Chapel with family receiving friends at 1 PM until service time.
