Dorothy Nabors MatthewsChildersburg, AL - Funeral service for Dorothy Nabors Matthews, 86, will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church with Rev. Bill Boggan officiating.  Burial will be in Andrews Chapel Cemetery in Hanover, AL.Mrs. Matthews died January 11, 2016 at Coosa Valley Medical Center.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James Harold Matthews; grandson, Matthew Price and sister, Faye Abrams.  She was born September 14, 1929 in Hanover, AL to Curtis and Lucille Nabors.  She was a longtime member of Andrews United Methodist Church.  She graduated from Coosa County High School in 1947.  On December 2, 1950 she married James Harold Matthews and they were married for 44 years.  She worked as a Dental Assistant with Dr. Hagan.  She enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, flower gardening and spending time with her family and friends.  She was a loving mother, grandmother and sister.She is survived by her daughters, Janet Price, husband Trudon of Smiths Station, AL and Lori Burton, husband Jeff of Childersburg; granddaughters, Kristin Price Moore, husband Wade and  Lauren Burton; great-grandson, Jaxon Cribbs; brother, Charles Nabors, wife Nancy of Thomaston, AL; sisters, Jean Cooper of Anniston, AL and Rachel Tolbert, husband Gary of Northport, AL; brother-in-law, Pete Abrams of Sylacauga and a host of loving nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be Wednesday, January 13, 2016 from 12:30 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Andrews Chapel United Methodist Church.Pallbearers will be Tommy Abrams, Tim Abrams, Tony Abrams, Tommy Burton, David Burton and Ed Reeves.Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
