Dwight Lane Rayfield, age 74, of Sylacauga, Alabama passed away on Saturday, October 23, 2021. Dwight was born June 9, 1947 to Laverne Rayfield and Olice Rayfield.
Dwight is survived by his wife of 27 years, Ouida Rayfield; his son, Brian Rayfield (Rebekah) of New Bern, North Carolina; his son, Gabe Stewart (Crystal) of Sylacauga, Alabama; his daughter, Amanda Hutchinson (Claude) of Clarksville, Tennessee; his daughter, Mandy Coleman (Josh) of Gulf Shores, Alabama; his daughter, Rosalind Wood (Andy) of Sylacauga, Alabama; his brother, Marion Rayfield (Linda) of Sylacauga, Alabama; his sister, Kathy Brewer (Jack) of Stewartville, Alabama; 12 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild.
Dwight was preceded in death by his daughter, Christy Rayfield; his mother, Laverne Rayfield and his father, Olice Rayfield; his brother, Charles Rayfield; and his sister, Juanita Shell.
Dwight's career was serving as a teacher and administrator in Talladega County Schools for 31 years. He was a member of Marble City Baptist Church where he taught Sunday School for many years. He faithfully served Gideons International. He also served his community through the Kiwanis Club where he was "Kiwanian of the Year" in 2004, 2009, 2010, and received the Spirit of Kiwanis Award in 2008.
Serving as pallbearers are Brian Rayfield, Joshua Coleman, Claude Hutchinson, Bret Rayfield, Andy Wood, and Gabe Stewart. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Donnie Morris, Chris Morris and Jackie Rayfield.
A visitation for Dwight will be held Tuesday, October 26, 2021 from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Mac McCaleb and Dr. Wayne McDaniel officiating.
Dwight will be laid to rest in Evergreen Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga, AL 35150.
