Franklin Benefield

Childersburg, AL - Funeral service for Franklin Benefield, 74, will be Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. in the Radney-Smith Chapel with the Dr. Wayne McDaniel officiating.  Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery in Childersburg, AL.

Mr. Benefield passed away Monday, December 19, 2016 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard Franklin Benefield and Lillie Mae Benefield; brother, M.D. Benefield; sister-in-law, Pearlie Mae Benefield, brother, Hubert Benefield, sister-in-law, Louise Benefield; brother, Aubrey Benefield; sister, Mary George Johns; brother-in-law, Mac Johns; sister, Marie Harvell; brother-in-law, Charles Harvell; and brother-in-law, William Frost. Mr. Benefield played football at Winterboro High school and then later served in the U.S. Army after training in the Panama Canal. He retired from Avondale Mills after 36 years of service. He was a faithful servant of his Lord, a good husband, father, and pawpaw.

Mr. Benefield is survived by his wife, Jackie Benefield; daughter, Brittany Benefield Swain; two granddaughters, Terri Kay Swain and Bri Swain; brother, Charles Benefield wife Pat; three sisters, Hazel Frost, Naomi Smith husband Carel, and Ruby Ford; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 21, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Roger Frost, Randy Benefield, Alan Harville, Tony Benefield, Randy Phillips, and Clay Vick.
