Gene Edward CoxAlpine, AL - Funeral service for Gene Edward Cox, 80, will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 at 2:00 pm at Radney-Smith Chapel with Dr. Wayne McDaniel officiating.  Burial will be in Tallasahatchie Cemetery in Alpine, AL.Mr. Cox died Tuesday, August 7, 2012 at Trinity Medical Center in Birmingham, AL.   He attended First Free Will Baptist Church.  He was retired from ECC with over 30 years of service.  He also a retired farmer after 50 years.  He was a loving father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Ermalene Cox of Alpine; 2 daughters, Darlene Busby and Kathy Hamlin, husband Jimmy; grandchildren, Shane Busby of Trussville, Jack Dyer Jr., of Alpine, Triston Cox, husband Marvin of Alpine and Trenton Cox of Deltona, FL; step-grandchildren, Cleave Hamlin of Jacksonville, FL and Delean Chappell of Oxford, AL; great-grandchildren, Natalie Dyer, Kelsie Dyer, Matalyn Chappell and Chloe Grier;  6 brothers and  5 sisters. Visitation will be Thursday, August 9, 2012 from 12:00 pm until 2:00 pm.Pallbearers will be Jack Dyer Jr., Shane Busby, Gilbert Hammonds, Bryan Osbourn, Harold Hickman and Wendell Hickman.Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
