Dr. Gene Nolan Gordon was born October 21, 1952 to Colonel Aubrey Gene and Dora Catherine Gordon. He graduated from Berry High School and went on to attend Auburn University. While at Auburn he received honors in Pre-Med, was a SGA Spirit Director, President of Plainsman and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon. Upon graduation he attended medical school at University of Alabama at Birmingham. His internship took him to Keesler Air Force Base in Biloxi, Mississippi and later took him to Randolph Air Force Base in San Antonio, Texas where he became a flight surgeon and chief. He discovered his love for aircraft and flying T-38's with friends.
Anesthesia residency brought Gene back home to University of Alabama at Birmingham where upon completion he would become A Board Certified Anesthesiologist.
Dr. Gordon moved to Sylacauga in 2002 where he became chief of Anesthesia at Coosa Valley Medical Center. In his recent years he opened his private practice in Sylacauga to help provide interventional pain management to those throughout his own community. He retired August 2025.
Dr. Gordon is preceded in death by his parents, Aubrey and Catherine Gordon, and his brother, Donald K. Gordon.
He is survived by his wife, Kadie Dobbs Gordon; his children, Ryan Gordon (Hilary), Ashley Gordon, Brooke Gordon, Nathan Gordon, Nolan Gordon, and Ginna McCain; his granddaughter, Evie Gordon; his sister, Beverly Roberts (Greg); and numerous family members.
Visitation will be held at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, on Sunday, March 22, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the funeral service in the Chapel at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 North Elm Avenue, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, on March 22, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Charles Kelley officiating.
Pallbearers will be Brooks Turner, Ethan Pruitt, Brady Ritchey, Blake Ritchey, Landon Lee, Shane Ward, and Bailey Ward.
Gene will be laid to rest at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga.
