Gerald D. Turney

Mr. Gerald D. Turney, age 89 of Sylacauga, passed away January 8, 2016 at Tuscaloosa Veterans Medical Center. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 12, 2016 at Curtis and Son Funeral Home North Chapel with the Rev. Jim Shaw officiating. Burial will be in Weogufka Methodist Cemetery. Visitation will be Monday, January 11 from 5:30-8:00 PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel.

He is survived by his sons, Timothy Gerald Turney and wife Cristie and Mark Gilbert Turney and wife Crystal; daughter, Lanell Turney Sims Connell and husband Joseph; sister, Sylvia Turney Gardner; grandchildren, Jerry Thomas Sims III, Caleb Turney, Samantha Turney, Joshua Adair, Jeffrey Adair, Abigail Soren, Nathan Soren, Benjamin Soren; great grandchildren, Abby McLelland, Colby Crane, James McClelland and Matthew Sims.

Mr. Turney was preceded in death by wife, Sarah Nell Gilbert Turney; son, Kyle J. Turney; grandson, Anthony Matthew Sims; parents, Marion Clyde Turney and Laura Alice McGrady Turney; brothers, Raymond, William, Bobby and Ernest Turney; sisters, Dolly Turner Gaither, Myrtice Turney Orman and Joyce Harmon Weathers.
