

Gertrude “Trudy” Catherine Perry, 80, of Sylacauga, AL passed away on May 9, 2026, at Coosa Valley Medical Center. Born on October 22, 1945, in Washington, D.C., Trudy was the daughter of Joseph Francis Davis and Mary Emma Bresnahan.
She was raised in Prince George’s County Maryland and graduated from Suitland High School. Trudy retired as Chief of Administrative Services for the Fairfax County Department of Animal Control in 1998. She called Garrisonville, VA home since 1995 but relocated to Sylacauga, AL in 2023. Trudy enjoyed many years of buying and selling antiques after her retirement and throwing an occasional yard sale. She also enjoyed trips to the beach and weekend casino getaways. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family.
Trudy is survived by her daughter Janice Saunders Grohs (Tommy) of Chelsea, AL, her son Stephen Eric Saunders of Sylacauga, AL, and stepson Linwood Joseph Perry II (Amie) of Franklin, TN, grandchildren Catherine Michell Grohs, Thomas Eric Grohs, Savannah Elizabeth Perry Ludvik (Ryan), and Grayson Charles Perry (Grace), and numerous nieces and nephews.
Janice and Stephen are the children of Trudy and her late former husband, Harris Donald “Don” Saunders, who were endeared as friends throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her husband Linwood Joseph Perry, her parents, Joseph and Mary, her brothers, James “Jimmy” and Joseph Davis, sisters Carol Lynn Kirkland and Mary Ann Shifflette.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
