Funeral service for Hershel Allen McDonald, age 75, of Sycamore will be Saturday, June 5, 2021 at 2PM at Curtis and Son North Chapel with the Rev. Wayne Fowler officiating. Burial will follow at Fayetteville Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, June 4, 2021 from 5-8PM at the funeral home.
Mr. McDonald passed away May 31, 2021 at his residence.
He was preceded in death by his parents: William Grover McDonald and Ruby Abrams McDonald.
We'll miss him but he'll always live on in the lessons that he passed down to his children, who in turn passed them down to us. Pawpaw was a man's man, and as tough as anyone who ever lived. He knew how to take worthless things and make something practical and useful with them, and would always rather fix something than buy a new one. He was rough around the edges, but had a solid gold heart. He'd always tell you what he was thinking, and he had this certain stare he'd give you if he thought you were being a dummy. Everybody who knew him knows that look. He never complained about the hand that he was dealt, but knew how to always make the best of a situation. We love you Pawpaw and I'll see you in the morning...
He is survived by his wife: Linda McDonald, sons: Tim McDonald (Debra), Mike McDonald (Tonya), daughters: Angie Sewell (Chris), Rita Davidson (Bobby), Kelly Baird (Gary), Kim Conn (Calvin), Amanda Oswalt (William), Amelia Hicks (Tommy), sister: Virginia Martin, 23 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Nathan Carter, Jason Epperson, Nathan Phillips, Aaron Oswalt, Matthew Jones and Cody Jones.
