Hubert Gentry, age 83, of Sylacauga, Alabama passed away on Monday, December 28, 2020. Hubert was born August 22, 1937 to Evelyn Rayfield Haisten and Lonnie Gentry. A visitation for Hubert will be held Wednesday, December 30, 2020 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home. A funeral service will occur on Thursday, December 31, 2020 at 1 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home. A burial will occur at Mt. Olive Cemetery in Talladega, AL following the funeral service. Rev. Randy Liner and Rev. mark Deason will officiate all services. Hubert is survived by his wife, Carolyn Gentry; sons Mark Horton (Diane) and Jimmy Horton (Karen); daughters Jeana Murphy (Greg) and Tammy Gentry; brother-in-law Henry Crowe (Nancy), sister Jeanette Reynolds and sister-in-law Linda Turner (Herman); grandchildren Candy Blackmon Kimberly Caudle Anthony Horton Gavin Horton, Casey Gomez, Corey Horton, Jessica Horton, 14 Great Grandchildren, 4 Great Great Grandchildren and 4 On the way. Hubert was preceded in death by mother Evelyn Rayfield Haisten and father Lonnie Gentry; brothers Lonnie Gentry, Eugene Gentry, Charles Gentry, Jimmy Ray Gentry Phillip Gentry and sister Genva Scroggins. Hubert worked at M&N Alloy for 40 years and was Pastor at Sylacauga Lighthouse Church for 24 year. Brother Hubert Gentry was the kindest man you could ever ask for. He was a great husband who loved his family and everyone around him. And everyone loved him everywhere he went, even the children. He was always talking to you about the Lord, the Lord was always on his mind. He was special because of not who he was but whose he was. Serving as pallbearers are Billy Garrison, Herman Turner, Greg Murphy, Anthony Horton, Sam Mann, Steven Baird and Austin Macleroy.
