J. Larry Simmons

Alpine, AL - Funeral service for J. Larry Simmons, 73, will be Sunday, September 11, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at Sycamore Baptist Church with Bro. Mike Owen and Bro. Randy Hagan officiating. He will lie in state for one hour starting at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be in Tallasahatchie Cemetery in Alpine, AL.

Mr. Simmons died Thursday, September 8, 2016 at his residence and was preceded in death by his wife of 17 years, Sorena G. Simmons; father, William Governer Simmons; mother, Martha Lou Stroud; step-mother, Clara  Simmons; sister, Carolyn Jane Daniels.

He was a member of Sycamore Baptist Church and the National Street Rod Association. Mr. Simmons proudly served in the Army Air National Guard and was a member of the American Quarter Horse Association. He retired from Kimberly-Clark Corporation with 26 years of service as a pipe fitter and welder.

He is survived by three daughters, Teresa Springfield husband Mark of Renfroe, Kathy Pressley of Sylacauga, and Mindy Grier husband Pete of Sylacauga; son, Mike Simmons wife Candi of Eastaboga; two stepsons, Jon Braswell wife Sandie of Sylacauga, Frankie Braswell of Sylacauga; three brothers, James Simmons wife Sonia of Childersburg, Earl Simmons wife Karen of Brewton, Donald Simmons wife Shelia of Wears Valley, TN; two sisters, Doris Raison husband Ken of Rockford, Suzanne  Reynolds husband Kelley of Mountain Brook; two brother-in-laws, Nolan Daniels of Sylacauga, Pete Giddens wife Jeri of Sylacauga; 11 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and his loving companions Peanut and Dottie.

Visitation will be Saturday, September 10, 2016 from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Bly Springfield, Jimmy Ridley, Stephen Simmons, Trenton Braswell, Vachel Sims, and Wayne Taylor.
