Jack Alton Epperson, age 90, passed away on September 25, 2026, surrounded by his loved ones. Visitation for Jack will be held on Monday, September 28, from 6pm until 8pm at Radney-Smith Funeral Home, 320 N. Elm Ave, Sylacauga, AL. Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 29, at 11am at Radney-Smith Chapel with Phillip Epperson and Billy Epperson officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.
Born on November 6, 1935, Jack lived a wonderful life. He shared 52 wonderful years of marriage with his beloved wife, Opal, and was a devoted husband, loving father, and proud grandfather and great-grandfather. He leaves behind a lifetime of cherished memories and a legacy of love that will live on through generations of his family.
Jack proudly served his country in the United States Army and volunteered with the Alabama State Troopers Reserve. A man of strong faith and an extraordinary work ethic, he dedicated 33 years to Avondale Mills, 19 years to Baptist Health Systems, and more than 20 years to Walmart. He continued working until his passing, something that came as no surprise to those who knew and loved him.
He will be remembered for his strong faith, his love for his family, and the way he could always make us laugh. We will miss his jokes, his stories, and simply having him around. Most of all, we will cherish the memories we made with him and the love he gave us throughout his 90 wonderful years.
Jack is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Opal Epperson; his children, Billy Epperson (Ann), Timmy Epperson, Jamie Riddle (Kim), Pam Nix (Haron), Sharon Futral (Roger), Lisa Bolding, and Chad Riddle.
He is also survived by his grandchildren, Randy Epperson (Shelly), Phillip Epperson (Kassey), Larry Bolding (Rebecca), Kyle Riddle (Jessica), Kelly Parker (Brody), Kandy Patton (Grant), Kale Riddle, and numerous others; 19 great-grandchildren; and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
Jack is preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Velt Epperson; his stepmother, Artie Mae Epperson; his daughter, Shelia Magouyrk; his brothers, Robert Epperson, Ted Epperson, Roy Lee Epperson, and Luther Epperson; his sisters, Jean Dunn, Sylvia Jones, Sue Jones, and Louise Patterson.
Pallbearers will be Larry Bolding, Kyle Riddle, Kale Riddle, Grant Patton, Brody Parker, and Jonathan Anderson.
