Jack retired from the Air Force after 27 years of service! He had a Masters degree in Engineering from his Alma Mater Georgia Tech. He was a “Ramblin’ Wreck” and a Heck of an Engineer! He stayed true to his school through the years.
Jack was well decorated with his Military service to include Distinguished flying cross for Navigators and 4 clusters. He flew several Airplanes through out the 27 years including numerous Combat missions over Vietnam in the B-52. He served his country with Honor and was a true patriot.
After retiring, Jack and Lola went into the Yachting brokerage business. Jack had a true love of the water and boating for pleasure. Sales was not his thing.
They moved to Florida where he worked for BDM in the fire Protection area.
Hurricane Opal nearly destroyed their house on the bayou but they rebuilt. But Jack and Lola worried for the next three years about the What ifs. So they chose Jacks Hometown of Sylacauga, to retire. Jack put boating away so His Bride could have her horses. .. As a couple they were involved in So many activities around Sylacauga. Jack was President of the Kiwanis Club, involved with the Beautification committee and made a lot of good changes for Sylacauga.
Jack Loved his Church! The First Presbyterian Church where he went as a child and which he and Lola were Loyal members for many years. Jack played Santa for a lot of Christmases , drove the bus, and Volunteered for everything.
A visitation for Jack will be held Monday, March 8, 2021 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, 1315 Talladega Hwy, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150. Followed by a funeral service at 2:00. Burial will occur at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.
I don’t think there is a person on earth that loved a road trip better than him. He loved to go and explore, and as a typical Navigator, NEVER went home the same way he came.
Jack’s life would make a great book. He had an awesome career, was a giver, a great husband, Father, Grandfather and friend.
He will missed by all who knew him.
“I Sought the Lord
And he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears”
