Tanner was the oldest of four children, followed by his twin siblings, Mackenzie Grace, Preston Grant and his younger brother, Colin Brooks. As the oldest, Tanner was protective of his siblings and deeply loved his family.
Tanner was sweet, athletic, intelligent, and generous. He had a heart for people and loved doing things for others. He was known for surprising people with gifts, bringing someone food, or simply doing something thoughtful without expecting anything in return. Making people happy brought him joy.
After high school, Tanner joined the military and began his career in the Army. He was NREMT certified and a combat medic. He took pride in serving others and caring for people and wanted to help them through their most difficult moments.
Tanner’s life changed forever with the tragic accident that took the life of his brother, Preston, on June 25, 2022.
In the years that followed, Tanner was never the same. Thankfully, we believe he never truly understood that he had lost his brother. There were moments when Tanner seemed more confused than clear, but we loved him and helped him in every way we could. As difficult as it is to let him go, we find comfort knowing Tanner is finally free from a broken body that could no longer heal. We believe he is whole again, free from pain and confusion, and at peace.
But Tanner’s story is much bigger than the tragedy that changed his life. He was a young man with his own personality, dreams, talents, humor, and tremendous capacity to love.
Those who knew Tanner will remember his kindness, athletic spirit, generosity, and the way he cared for those around him. Most of all, he will be remembered as a son and brother who was deeply loved.
Tanner’s life reminds us that a person’s impact is measured by the love they give and the memories they leave behind.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Preston Grant Bowen.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 6, 2026 at 2:00 PM at Calvary Baptist Church in Childersburg, Alabama with the Funeral Service to follow at 3:00 PM.
