

James Roland PeoplesGoodwater, AL - Funeral service for James Roland Peoples, 87, will be Sunday, September 29, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Chapel with Rev. Don Evans and Rev. Gary Wiggins officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga, AL.Mr. Peoples died Friday, September 27, 2013 at his residence after a long illness. He was preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Myrtle Peoples and brother, William Ford Peoples. James was devoted to his family, his extended family and his dogs and all felt the love and care he bestowed on them. He was a Purple Heart recipient after being wounded serving in the US Army in the South Pacific during World War II. He and Howell M. Ray established and operated Ray, Peoples & White, civil engineers and land surveyors, in Sylacauga for over 45 years.He is survived by his wife, Audra W. Peoples; sons, James W. Peoples, wife Brucille, of Dadeville, Robert R. Peoples, wife Barbara, of Sylacauga, Terrell R. Peoples, wife Sue, of Goodwater, John Michael Estes of Sylacauga and Glenn Estes, wife Shelia, of Sylacauga; daughter, Sandra Estes Adams, husband Robert, of Douglasville, GA; grandchildren, Robb Peoples, Jennifer Peoples, Adam Peoples and Dawn Fredricks; great-grandchildren, Robert and Gracie Peoples and Gabriel and Layla Fredricks; a host of step-grandchildren and nieces and nephews, all of whom he loved and cherished as his own.
