He retired from Kimberly Clark/Bowater. He is a 1965 graduate of Vincent High School and he served in the US Army as SGT from 1966 to 1968.
He is survived by his son Tom Powers of Goodwater, AL, his daughter Dorothy Young (Eric) of Helena, AL, his granddaughters, Shelby Lin Young and Anna Elizabeth Young, his sisters Nancy Rich of Westover, AL and Marjorie Archer of Jacksons Gap, AL, his brother Steven Powers (Wanda) of Dadeville, AL, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents Thomas C. and Frances R. Powers, and twin brother John C. Powers.
For 10 years while living in Foley, Alabama, he served in many capacities in the Gulf Coast Elks Lodge #2782.
Visitation will be held at Mt. Signal Baptist Church, 7495 Old Hwy 280, Chelsea, AL 35043, on July 10, 2026, from 10:00 am until 11:00 am. The funeral service will follow at Mt. Signal Baptist Church on July 10, 2026, beginning at 11:00 am.
Pallbearers will be Donnie Lackey, Bubba Haynes, Danny Smith, Tim Rich, Kyle Ray, and Larry Dorough.
It was a personal request of Tommy's for no flowers to be sent. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Mt. Signal Cemetery Fund at 7495 Old Hwy 280, Chelsea, AL 35043.
