James "Pete" Edward Sumners passed on August 22, 2026, at the age of 89. Born March 2, 1937, in Sylacauga, Alabama, Pete resided in Sylacauga, Alabama.

Pete is survived by Ethelda Sumners, wife; David Sumners (Beverly), son; and Louise Hughes, sister, and was preceded in death by Dock Sumners, father, and Myrtis Sumners, mother.

Visitation will be held at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel, 1315 Talladega Hwy, Sylacauga, Alabama 35150, on August 26, 2026, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, followed by the Funeral Service at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, North Chapel, beginning at 2:00 pm.

Final resting place will be Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga.

The family will be receiving flowers or in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Mignon Methodist Church.
