Judy Alexander, 70, died peacefully at home on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 after a cancer diagnosis in 2024. She was born in Talladega, Alabama on August 4, 1955 and was a resident of Childersburg, Alabama all her life.
Judy is survived by her husband, Doug Alexander. Doug and Judy were married on July 17, 1972. They were best friends who were married for 53 years and enjoyed RV camping, traveling, and dinner dates to Chick-Fil-A.
She is also survived by their children Jamie Alexander (Leigh Ann), Leesa Barnes (Aaron), and John Alexander (Mary Cathryn), grandchildren Eli Alexander (Kirby), Jill Alexander, Luke Alexander, Grace Barnes, and Alex Barnes, and great grandson James David Alexander due in November. She also leaves behind siblings Mary Ann Massey (Glen), Donna Hurst, and Gene Massey (Susan).
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Cathy Elders.
Judy began following Christ in the early 1970s and faithfully attended church with involvement in many ministries including Vacation Bible School, children’s church, Walk-Fit exercise classes, Sew Loved, and Comfort Care Bags. She loved Jeremiah 33:3 which says “Call to me and I will answer you and show you great and mighty things which you do not know.” Her faith in Christ and confidence in God’s Word provided daily peace and hope throughout her life and as an anchor during the last two years of treatments. Some of her favorite things in life were spending time with family, sewing, quilting, painting, drawing, gardening, cooking, and playing card games.
The family would like to thank the staff at Southern Care New Beacon for the support and kindness during the past month.
The family will hold visitation on Friday, July 10, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Grace Baptist Church in Childersburg. The funeral will follow immediately at 2:00 PM. Graveside service to follow at Green Hill Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Mike Holmes, Tim Crist, Randy Bowen, Slim Milam, Willie Landers, Peter Wallenfang, Ezekiel Meadors, and Zane Meadors.
