Karen Vause Green

Sylacauga, AL. - Karen Sue (Vause) Green returned to her heavenly home on August 10, 2021. Karen will long be remembered for her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God.

Karen was born on September 16, 1957 in Fort Myers, Florida to her parents, Chester and Donna Vause. She graduated from Riverdale High School in 1975. She married Robert Green in 1979 moved to Sylacauga, Alabama in 1994 with her family. Karen earned CNA, LPN, and RN nursing degrees while raising her three children and taking care of her family. Karen spent the last ten years of her career teaching Health Science classes to students in the Coosa County and Talladega County school systems. She truly loved nursing, and she greatly enjoyed sharing this passion with her students.

Karen was a devoted and supportive wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She was an avid book lover, and wrote her own children’s book in 2009. Her book, Sweet Sister Don’t Be Afraid, is based on her own childhood fears and how, through God’s word and prayer, she overcame those fears.

Ms. Green is survived by her husband of forty-two years, Robert Green; daughter and son-in-law, Katie and Chris Norton; her sons, Robert Green and Travis Green; her father, Chester Vause; her sister and brother-in-law, Carol and William Brooks; her brother, Jeffrey Vause; and four grandchildren, Sawyer Green, Rebecca Green, John David Norton, and Luke Norton; her mother in law, Carolyn Green Tucker; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Leslie and Barbara Green; numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her mother, Donna Vause and her father-in-law, Merle Green.

A memorial service will take place on August 14, 2021, at 12:00 p.m. at Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, Alabama. The family will receive friends and family from 10:00-12:00 on the day of the memorial service. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Karen’s life.
