Katherine Adcock Elliott, a faithful, hard-working, and selfless woman, went to be with the Lord on December 25, 2025, at the age of 96. Born on July 5, 1929, in Jackson, Tennessee, Katherine was a resident of Sylacauga, Alabama.
Katherine's early life was marked by a commitment to education and service. She attended West Tennessee Business College, Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing, and earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Samford University. Additionally, she obtained a diploma from Thai International Language School in Bangkok, Thailand, and earned her Master of Education from the University of Alabama, Birmingham.
Her career was a testament to her dedication to nursing and education. Katherine served as a Registered Nurse and instructor at Coosa Valley Medical Center School of Nursing, Jackson Memorial Hospital School of Nursing, and Louisville General Hospital School of Nursing. She also taught Registered Nurses in Thailand who were preparing to study in the U.S. Katherine worked in various units at Coosa Valley Medical Center, Clanton Hospital, as an Industrial Nurse for Vanity Fair, and in private duty nursing. She was a member of the American Nurses Association (ANA), Kappa Delta Phi, and served as a Board Member of the Cheaha Mental Health Association of Talladega County.
Katherine was married to Dennis E. Elliott until his passing in 2017. Together, they served as missionaries in Bangkok, Thailand through the International Mission Board of the Southern Baptist Association, where she taught the English language to nurses.
Katherine is survived by her children: her daughters Leslie Denise Francis, Angela Minor, and Anna Reeves, and son Dennis E. Elliott II. She leaves behind her grandchildren: Tara Green (Russ), Christina Moser (Jesse), Ariel Francis, Nathaniel Francis (Sabrina), Brianna Menaldo (Valentine), Kaylan Jacobs (Seth), Jason Elliott, Christina Reeves (Jason), William Aubrey Elliott, and Victoria Elizabeth Elliott. Her legacy also includes her great-grandchildren: Delaney Green, Russell Green, Mitchell Green, Adaline Grace Moser, Oliver James Francis, Zan Tyler Ingram (Kelsey), Elijah Ingram, Amanda Vickers, Shelby Elliott, Slade Hay, and Dayton Lankert, as well as her great-great-grandchildren: Wyatt Ingram, Brailyn Ingram, Katherine "Khi" Ingram, and Rayleigh Mae Ricks.
Katherine's final resting place will be at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, located at 1501 Talladega Highway, Sylacauga.
