Kathy J. Martin, age 68, of Wilsonville, Alabama passed away on Thursday, April 24, 2025. Kathy was born in Ashland, Clay County, Alabama on May 21, 1956 to Gladys Tarwater and Thomas Tarwater. She was a child of eleven siblings: step brother, Jimmy Damone and step sister, Vera Spates; sisters, Frances Tarwater Horton and udy Tarwater; brothers, Thomas Tarwater, Roy Tarwater, Howard Tarwater, Clint Tarwater, Kenneth Tarwater, Cecil Tarwater, and Freddie Tarwater.
Kathy is survived by her husband, Jimmy Martin; her son Mark Allen Martin (Alicia); and her daughter Mitzi Martin Smith; her brother Clint Tarwater; her grandchildren Cori Martin and Cole Martin.
Kathy was preceded in death by her father Thomas Tarwater and her mother Gladys Tarwater; her brother Jimmy Damone; her brother Thomas Tarwater; her brother Roy Tarwater; her brother Howard Tarwater; her brother Kenneth Tarwater; her brother Cecil Tarwater; her brother Freddie Tarwater; her sister Vera Spates; her sister Frances Tarwater Horton and her sister Judy Tarwater.
A visitation for Kathy will be held Sunday, April 27, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Curtis and Son Funeral Home, Sylacauga, Alabama. Following the visitation will be a graveside service at 11:00 AM at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery where Kathy will be laid to rest.
Serving as pallbearers are Roy Tarwater, Craig Wadsworth and Scott Ezekiel.
Kathy attended Vincent Schools from kindergarten until a car accident forced her to drop out of school due to injuries sustained. She later attended Jefferson State Junior College and received her State Certificate of High-School Equivalency (GED) on April 1, 1975. She loved going to church and was a Christian early in life. The last church she attended was Vandiver Church of God.
She was employed at Coosa Sportswear in Sylacauga, AL from 1983-1997. She later was employed at Vulcan Information Packaging in Vincent where she received a 15 year plaque for her services.
Kathy married Jimmy Martin June 27, 1980. She has one son, Mark Allen Martin Martin and a step daughter, Mitzi Martin Smith. She loved her family and had a blessed life.
