Kenneth Lee Clifton Jr., 73, of Sylacauga, Alabama, passed away on September 28, 2026, after a life that left people smiling, well-fed, and feeling like they belonged. Born January 17, 1953, Kenneth carried himself with a steady warmth that made it easy to love him and hard to forget him.
Kenneth married his high school sweetheart, Regina Clifton, later in life, and he cherished and adored her until her passing in 2018. In the years they shared, and in the years that followed, he kept family at the center of everything, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, whom he loved deeply and delighted in at every chance.
To know Kenneth was to know an unmistakable, ear-to-ear smile and a spirit that stayed bright even through illness. He didn’t waste time complaining about limitations; instead, he met each day with a kind of gladness that lifted the room. Among family and friends, he was the jokester, the one with the perfectly timed remark, the familiar grin, and the sense that laughter was meant to be shared.
He had a gift for turning ordinary moments into stories worth repeating. Well known around town, Kenneth seemed to have a story for everyone and a way of telling it that made you feel like you were part of it. And once he met you, you were family. He loved people openly and completely, the kind of love that didn’t keep score, didn’t hold back, and absolutely did expect you at Christmas.
Kenneth’s love also came through in the way he cared for others, especially in the kitchen. He was a great cook, and his family favorites became their own tradition: creamed potatoes, barbecue chicken, and his special “recipe” for apple pie at Thanksgiving, all served with pride, good humor, and the simple joy of feeding the people he loved.
In quieter moments, Kenneth found happiness in fishing, listening to The Beach Boys, and settling in with old movies. These were simple pleasures that suited a man who knew how to enjoy life and share it with others.
Kenneth is preceded in death by his wife, Regina Clifton; his brother, Jerry Clifton; and his parents, Kenneth and Jerrine Clifton. He is survived by his children: Brian Clifton (April), Dusty Clifton (Samantha), Bethany Ledbetter (Jonathan), Cassie Sumner (Casey), Jordan Clifton (Spooby), and Kimberley Mullins (Bill). Mr. Clifton also leaves 17 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren to cherish his memory.
Kenneth’s legacy is not measured only in years, but in the laughter he sparked, the welcome he extended, and the love he gave so freely. He leaves behind a family and a community full of stories, full of gratitude, and full of reasons to smile.
