Lamar is survived by his son, Scott E. Smith (Ashleigh) of Nashville, Tennessee.
Lamar was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Annette Williams Smith.
Mr. Smith started working as a helper at Plant Arkwright for Georgia Power in 1949. In 1950 he joined the U.S. Navy and served aboard the USS Alvin C. Cockrell DE 366 in the Pacific Theater, he was later honorably discharged in January of 1952. He went back to work for Georgia Power in 1952 as Auxiliary Equipment Operator at Plant Yates. In 1964 he moved plants to the E.C. Gaston Steam Plant to work where he stayed until his retirement in 1994. Mr. Smith also served on the Sylacauga Utilities board for a number of terms and has his ICS Diploma in Elements of Nuclear Engineering.
The family is planning to have a memorial service for Mr. Smith held at a later date.
