

Larry Wayne White, age 70, passed away Friday, September 9, 2016 at his residence in Sylacauga. Born on October 2, 1945 to Hollis and Bea White, he was the oldest son of five children. Larry married his wife Jane Hassett in May 1967. Prior to retiring from the Sylacauga Fire Department, Larry worked at Dixie Color, owned Blue Water Seafood Market and The Old Hickory restaurant, operated a fishing guide service and served in the National Guard. Larry’s true passion was fishing and being in the great outdoors. He orchestrated Sylacauga’s first-ever Youth Fishing Derby on Lake Howard, wrote weekly outdoor columns in the Daily Home, and spent six seasons hosting his own local television show, Larry White Outdoors. Larry is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Myra Lackey. He is survived by his wife: Jane White; daughters: Daphne Hudson and Wendy Cleveland (David); son: Jamey White (Raylan); grandchildren: Marley Hudson, Luke Hudson, and Max Cleveland; godson: Dakota Wykoff; brothers: Gary White (Lynda) and Richard White (Sammie); sister: Sheila Rozier (Bill). Visitation will be held Sunday, September 11th from 5:30 – 8:00 pm and funeral services will be held Monday, September 12th at 11:00 am, both at Curtis & Son Funeral Home in Sylacauga. Jimmy Dale Abrams will officiate, and pallbearers will be Chuck Baker, Ronnie Browning, Will Davis, Chad Lackey, Doug Murphree, and Jim Peters. Honorary pallbearers will be current and former members of the Sylacauga Fire Department. The family would like to offer special thanks to his caregivers Diane Dark, Gloria Hughes, Brenda McElrath and the nurses of Amedisys Hospice. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
