Mary Farr Stone Hamby was my brother's and my first piano teacher. Our house was directly in front of Mr. & Mrs. Stone's house on Pike Road. Mary  Farr, Beth and her parents were gracious people. My brother did not take music but one year but I took music up to the year she married Rev. Warren Hamby. I went to see Mary Farr when she was at the Nursing/Asst. Living Home on Montclair Rd.  I visited about an hour and we talked about the different students that she had. I so much enjoyed visiting with her. She looked as pretty as she always did. My name is  Susie Jayne Turner and my brother is Dr. John Jayne. We offer all of you our sympathy and our prayers are with you all. I live in Pinson, AL and Dr. Jayne lives in Greystone (off Hwy. 280).

Sorry to hear of the passing of Mrs. Hamby, she was always such a sweet lady.

She was the best and most loving person I've ever known, I am very honored and proud to have been her son. She loved me and all her children with no conditions. I know that I put her and my father through some times where it wasn't easy for them to love me. But, she always did no mater how bad or rebellious I was or what my beliefs are. In my teens and twenties and even up until I moved to Childersburg and grew out of that rebellious phase, to a large degree. I was a "Mama's boy", being the youngest of 4 children. When I moved to Childersburg in 1999 I became there servant, taxi and errand boy until my fathers death in 2009. It was an honor and a pleasure to have helped them through their last years. I love them both and will always have wonderful memories of both of them. But, mama held a special place in my heart. <3
