Mary Joyce Spates

Funeral service for Mary Joyce Spates will be Saturday, June 27, 2026 at 2PM at Providence Baptist Church, 37 Meadow Ln, Harpersville, AL 35078 with Rev. Timothy Spates, Rev. Colton Spates, Adam Spates and Randall Spates officiating. Burial will follow at Harpersville Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-2 at the church.

Mrs. Spates passed on June 24, 2026 at her residence.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Jimmie Roland Spates, parents, Jesse and Mary Nix, brothers, Wilburn Nix, Charles Nix and sisters, Marie Lawley and Jackie Spates.

She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a born again believer who left a godly legacy on her family with the influence she left on them. She retired from Avondale Mills.

She is survived by her daughter, Teresa Curlee (Johnny), sons, Randall Spates (Selena), Timothy Spates (Sheila), Rodney Spates (Tricia) sisters, Shirley Howard, Ann Humphries (Kenneth), Linda Powers, grandchildren, Corey Wilson (Traci), Ashley Clardy (Rob), Haley Houston (Paul David) Adam Spates (Charli), Brittany Spates, Bethany Spates, Lauren Hollingsworth (Houston), Colton Spates (Ashlyn) and 14 great grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Corey Wilson, Adam Spates, Colton Spates, Rob Clardy, Paul David Houston and Houston Hollingsworth.

Honorary Pallbearers are Addison Spates, J.P. Spates and Jaxon Wilson

The family would like to say a special thanks to her sister, Linda Powers for taking such great care of her and to SouthernCare New Beacon as well.
