Myrtis Ethel East PattersonSylacauga, AL – Funeral service for Myrtis Patterson, 89, will be Friday, November 1, 2013 at 2:00 p.m. at Childersburg Church of God with the Rev. David Houston and the Rev. David Bearden officiating.  Burial will be in the Childersburg Cemetery.“MawMaw” went to glory October 30, 2013.  Her life was spent devoted to her family and her church, where she was a member for 64 years.  The legacy that she leaves of a strong yet compassionate woman, will forever be.She was preceded in death by her parents, the Rev. Daniel East and Myrtis East, son, Jimmy Patterson, granddaughter, LaWanna Benefield, sisters, Jewelrene Ethridge and Agnes Pitts.She is survived by her daughter, Ruby (Joe) Welch of Childersburg, brother, Dan (Brenda) East of Columbus, GA; grandchildren Tony (Amanda) Benefield, Bobbi (Wade) Houston of Childersburg, Julie Overby of Lenior, NC and Kenneth Patterson of Alex City; great-grandchildren, Lesli Price, Michelle Reynolds, Mason Houston and Kaylynn Benefield; two great-great-grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews that adored their “Aunt Ethel”.Pallbearers will be James Patterson, Danny East, Tony Benefield, Wade Houston, Victor Plagany and Mason Houston.Visitation will be Thursday, October 31, 2013 from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Childersburg Church of God.Memorial messages may be sent to the family at www.radneysmith.com.Radney-Smith Funeral Home in Sylacauga, AL will direct the services.
