

Phillip English, 39, of Huntsville, Alabama died Feb. 4 2017. He was married to the love of his life Mary Scott (Scottie) English on April 4, 2009. Phillip graduated from Chelsea High School in 1995, and received a BS in Information Systems from Mississippi State University in 2000.
He is survived by his wife, Scottie; his English lab, Sam; his father and mother, Jim and Ann English; brother, Patrick English (Courtney) and nephew, Vaughan; sister-in-law, Beth House (Mike) and niece, Mary Elizabeth; and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, James and Evelyn English, and LM and Mable Pate.
Phillip was a pioneer in the field of digital telemetry. For over 15 years he focused his talents on the defense of our nation. He was a valuable member of numerous flight test execution teams, sitting on console for some of the most complex missile defense tests our country has ever performed.
Listening to live music and dancing were just two of Phillip’s many interests. He also enjoyed spending his time cruising the Tennessee River on his pontoon boat and enjoying the warm, summer months in Alabama. A history buff and life-long learner, Phillip especially loved studying American history and astrophysics. Never someone to meet a stranger, Phillip was also happiest when surrounded by his family and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, February 9, at 11 am at Evergreen Cemetery in Sylacauga followed by visitation at 2 pm and memorial service at 3 pm at University Baptist Church in Montevallo. Flowers can be sent to University Baptist Church. Donations may be made in Phillip’s name to the Shelby County Humane Society at 381 McDow Road, Columbiana, AL 35051.
