Visitation will be held from 11am-1pm with a celebration of life service beginning at 1pm, Wednesday, May 27 at First Baptist Church of Oak Grove, 40190 US Hwy 280, Sylacauga, AL. Reverend Max Buttram will be officiating and honorary pallbearers will be the Adult Men 1 Sunday School class. In Lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Robert was born May 27, 1948 in Childersburg, AL to Horace and Grace Galloway Dillard. He graduated from Childersburg High School in 1966 and from Alex City Junior College in 1968. On September 23, 1967 he married the love of his life, Margie Jennings Dillard. Robert retired from the Coosa Pines paper mill after 34 years of employment. Robert was an incredibly faithful Christian, church member, husband, father, papa, and friend to many. Although Pickle had many hobbies over the years such as golf, woodworking, pen and knife making, collecting a variety of things, and hanging out with his recliner buddy, Ramsey, he most cherished spending time with his family and friends and humorously picking on us all.
Robert is survived by his wife, Margie Jennings Dillard, daughter, Tracy Dillard, son, Robby and his wife Beverly, son, Bobby and his wife Kelly, daughter, Tammy Young and her husband Tom, four grandchildren that he loved dearly, Ryan, Madison, Henley, and Grace; sisters: Marsha Dillard of Rainbow City, AL and Janice Dillard Sumners Wendt of Fayette, AL. He was preceded in death by his parents, Horace and Grace, his sister, Bobbie Denham and his brothers, Charles and Paul.
